I would say subsurf scattering, but that tends to make things glow.. maybe a translucent material with a rough glass material?
For that, I reccomend using "object coordinates" in the texture coordinate node.
The "color ramp" node let's you create a gradient of colors. You can then plug that gradient into the color slot of a glass shader provided you've got...
For the transparency it's just glass with .5 or someting of roughness and color ramp Also cycles
Try to jumped to Blender 2.8
I dont think it is permissible to not make a donut for your first ever render in this sub.

Cura is free, has some great experimental features, and did I mention it's free?
I've found Simplify3D to be the best software out there. It's expensive
Version 3.6. the latest version, Cura 15.04.x is ancient history.
