Hi guys, anyone here who has tought himself houdini and managed to land a job? Am just wondering if it is possible to learn on your own and still get a VFX TD without attending some kind of school for it.

Yes of course. The industry doesn't care whether you have a PHD on it. Provided you are good and you can deliver excellent work within the timelines. Plus, designing is all about your creativity, nothing about being booksmart.
