Currently I'm using my 5 years old core i7 custom build workstation. And trying to build new computer and its seems new AMD Ryzen cpu are more powerful as per internet research.

Actually what would be best to go for my next computer build, which is for 3D modeling.

I'm thinking of go for Ryzen 5. And have no idea whether its compatible with intel core i7 performance.

If you can go for Ryzen 5 3600, which is more than enough for general CAD/3D Modeling work.

I think dual thread rippers are really what you need for CAD

Go with gaming PC, The gaming machines will have a discrete GPU, (typically) a better processor, and more RAM
