I've only used slic3r pe, and now prusa slicer (on my non prusa printer) , and it has always been great
The banding I’d guess is maybe belt tension that can be adjusted
The only suggestion I’d have is maybe an extra top layer to fill any gaps when it does that surface on the Z face.
