I have a great product idea for a niche market. The product is a very cheap everyday product that can be made in plastic. I have sketches and a clear idea of the function but now I need to get the first piece made!
How do I find a trustworthy product designer? How much should I expect to pay for this

I don't know about the creator but i have a tip for you

Once you have the 3D designs you just need to find a 3D printer who will make it for you. I recommend searching for a local one because they are popping up everywhere and it will be faster/easier to work with someone near you. It might be cheaper as well.

Depends on how serious you are and how much you want to spend.

There's actually two categories of this type of software

Expensive and cheap

Which categories would you like to go ??

Rapid Prototyping is what you are looking for. Google it and you can find online stores that can make a 3D print of your 3D model file and ship it to you.
it will cost you $80

For expensive software go with Paper Prototyping
Paper prototyping can be used in the earliest stages of the prototyping process to iterate on ideas as it’s cheap to throw away, making it one of the best prototyping tools out there.
Pricing: 200

I actually have a great idea of prices, etc. Im just a marketing guy and not in manufacturing, so how to actually make a physical product is where I am clueless.

I don't know, maybe it will depend on the design.

It is a very very simple product, its just perfecting an everyday product to make it an innovative solution to cater to a niche where I am well connected to make this sell.
