Well talk about simulation then i'll suggest you NCloth. I my self use it with Maya it can be hard to wrangle especially if you need the topology to change or need a lot of precise control.

Cloth simulations, I suggest Houdini. Vellum is very good

Use nvidia physX SDK I don't know if it's a plug in or something standalone but these simulations are made to be real-time and will work for game

Maya and all of the other packages are made to be pre-rendered. And I'm sure that nvidia has a lot of documentation on how to implement the features into engines.
